He’s done things simply to oppose what Valve does, like making the EGS a safe haven for AI and blockchain shovelware games, outright rejecting Linux support for Fortnite (even though there is no technological barrier), and removing Rocket League from Steam. (not an exhaustive list, just to illustrate)
I wouldn’t say a single bad thing about Sam Lake. He is cursed with limitless creativity in a hostile ecosystem.
We don’t know what their contract says, but if the studio head is saying “never”, then presumably that’s what the contract says.
