Nah, you also need to work 78 hours a week and get lucky.
Honestly, most seem to have no interest in .world. Only a few were even indifferent.
I will say that I don’t think every member of the old team should be forced to resign. Effective moderation takes active engagement, and as someone who did end up as sole mod of a decently active comm for a bit, I was always anxious about it all being on me. I’m thankful that I was finally able to get help after resolving technical difficulties, as now I have room to breathe. A community this big needs as many consistent mods available as possible, because if they aren’t able to handle it, the responsibility falls on Ada. I do not want that for the community or for her.
I think the current mods should instead be forced to accept the way this instance is moderated, end of discussion, or quit. No more floating the idea of migration for the reasons they had. After totally bungling this, they have no chance to ever move peacefully or amicably like they wish they could. They accept this home, or find a new one for themselves. End of discussion.
At the very least, they need several new blahaj.zone moderators, to both handle the reports Ada mentioned, and to build back trust. I hope potential mods of the new comm can join, and I hope members of the old team chose to stay for good. I don’t enjoy bad blood, and I would like this place to actually have a enough moderation.
One is obscene, the other is Ram Ranch
People who argue in bad faith while trying to maintain an aura of civility. The whole “I’m just asking questions” bs that tries to win by baiting you into getting angry.
Like I said, the perception of .world from people here is not good. I changed from .world because most conservative and transphobic nonsense came from there. You will lose a number of queer people in this move, whether you like it or not.
I agree with most others that this is a huge mistake, if only for moving to .world. Another larger community being on that instance sounds like a bad idea for the lemmy ecosystem, even if you wanted to move from blahaj.zone. I will continue to post and browse on 196, but if I start to feel unwelcome there, I will make it known.
The problem is that you’re creating more work for yourself, even if you’re as on top of moderation as you were here. If you get the additional reach that you’re hoping for, you’ll have to work much quicker at removing shit content than you did here. Now that 196 isn’t on the openly queer instance, more bigots will feel like they can interact. This could lead to the community becoming less accepting in the long run, as queer people feel less safe and welcomed.
I have thick skin and often run towards conflicts other people won’t, but I know that many users here aren’t like me. If I start to feel it weighing on me, be confident that things have gone too far for most people on this instance.
It isn’t preemptive to see cops as our enemy, for they’re already taught to view the public as an enemy. The reform we need isn’t even what gets discussed by anybody who wants to “work” with police.
Public safety needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the ground up, with cops only handling situations where someone might need to die. There is no non-lethal violence. Any instance of cops using any form of violence carries the risk of someone dying. We shouldn’t expect them to be anything but violence machines; a last resort to any issue, not part of a front line.
If their unions don’t hate you, you’re never gonna actually accomplish anything. It’s not a good strategy to ally with people who get upset at being anti-cop. In the US, politicians who say “fuck the police” are better off than any respectability politician. We’ve heard nothing but meaningless platitudes for years, and people are tired of it. The “safe” politicians have provided no safety, and people are too scared to trust them any longer.
Idk. 14 year old me would still find this stupid
Google drives me up a wall with their search engine the most. AI bs to hide the fact that SEO and paid promotions make it hard to find anything anymore 😒
Suffocation?
Astolfo is a femboy icon, and while there’s nothing wrong with being a femboy, the community does skew younger. At a certain age, it gets awkward to call yourself a boy or girl, as our bodies naturally mature. It has a lot to do with the loss of youth, and the shame that comes with it.
Teachers are expected to be more “grown-up or mature,” with them using cute characters coming across as out of touch. It gets awkward when teachers break that perception, like they’re trying to be someone they can’t.
If the teacher doesn’t know who Astolfo is, they seem even more out of touch than if it’s a cute girl character; a “how do you do fellow kids?” moment. If the teacher is aware and intentionally represents themselves as a femboy, it still breaks the view students have of teachers as mature. It would be abnormal instead of immoral, but that alone is risky if a conservative catches wind of it.
Is often times better than a master of one :)
You are smart! You just probably have ADHD. I used to feel the same way, but I eventually realized that I really don’t think like others. My approximate knowledge is limited, but I can still leverage it to actually have advantages compared to others.
I was honestly surprised by the ban. Elong hadn’t even been in charge long enough to account for the change entirely. I wasn’t even being that hostile, just tearing into them like I do here when people spout bs. They just reported me because I made them look like fools.
I felt similar about Musk buying Twitter. I created an account for the first time after never wanting to use the app before, just so I could watch shit go down. I got banned for dunking on transphobes after a few months 🤣
Other people aren’t going to RedNote for political reasons. I’m not going to RedNote because I was never into TikTok.
I’m barely into YouTube, and I have no desire to jump back into short form algorithm driven stuff after a decade away from that noise. Deleting most socials as teen was the correct move. I only missed out on connecting with people I already knew.
Feeds are the bane of my existence. I don’t even look at my Lemmy feed. Instead, I check on individual communities and sort by new. Communities being smaller is an advantage for me.
