So, if you want to follow a Lemmy community from your Mastodon account you can simply do so as you would follow any other account. It will treat both posts and comments on that community as boosts. This quickly clogs up the feed and is very confusing to navigate.

Is there a way to have it show only the posts in my feed?

Sadly I haven’t found a way to do this. There’s got to be a better way to show up lemmy feeds, as it seems to be good to see the comments under the actual post instead of as new boosts.

I don’t see that the experience is that much different than seeing Mastodon posts on your Mastodon feed. I don’t see any threading in my home feed, I have to click on a post to see it threaded with the rest of the replies. This is the same as what I get when looking at a Lemmy community in my mastodon feed. The Lemmy posts and Lemmy comments are all just regular posts on Mastodon and when you click on one it’s displayed threaded with all the comments.

I guess the problem is that it treats all lemmy content as boosts. Because I’m able to exclude boosts and/or replies from my home feed in general, or boosts of specific accounts only. And Mastodon profiles have tabs for posts only and posts with replies, so I can differentiate.

Hm, yeah that’s a good point about them being boosts. But I guess it makes sense. If you view a Lemmy user from Mastodon, it mostly looks like you’d expect. So probably would require a coordinated development effort between Lemmy and Mastodon teams to agree on some kind of improvement.
