Smer is not socialist, they are part of the Social Democrat group of the European Parliament and are very socially conservative. They are very anti-LGBT and islamophobic for example. But their foreign policy is somewhat anti-imperialist and their economic policy somewhat leftist so I’m cautiously optimistic in those areas
Fair, classifying them as socialist is a bit generous. They’re more socdem in practice, they do seem to be much more left economically than the alternatives though. I’m cautiously optimistic because of that as well.
