How did the first guy even think that people would actually use Lemmy if you needed to create a new account in each instance for each comm?

Aaaand it’s gone, and I’ve been banned from the sub.

got 80,000 views and 1300 upvotes before is disappeared though, so I see that as a win, I’m sure a few people signed up.

Top highly upvoted comment saying you need different accounts for each instance 🤦🏻

Time to jump into the fray I guess

“Everyone says you can use any instance with any account so I tried logging in with instance A account on instance B and it doesn’t even work.”

Words like decentralized, interoperability or federated doesn’t mean anything to these people. We need good infographics to convey the idea correctly without misunderstandings.

People are staying away from Lemmy because they don’t understand why its different from classic social media. From the outside they see many divided platforms instead of the unifying it’s actually doing.

I agree totally. I think people benefit of think of their instance as the window through which they view the rest of the Fediverse.

Sadly yes, but they’ve been helped to see the light.

      Let’s keep guiding new users.

Sometimes reading the comments is really depressing… But hey, I tried to contribute a little by leaving some hopefully-helpful replies.

Most people only switch and change because of the trends and not so much because they understand how lemmy is good and why it will benefit them in the long run. People even get angry when you suggest to spend 5 minutes to learn the basics claiming it’s not user friendly. Among all the things that may contribute to this i think people are too used to get products showed in their face.

in a sense I get then though. it’s like they’re getting preached on. nobody lines that, right?

I myself gave threadiverse another chance on my own volition and learned on my own.

so it might take some time for others to try it give a second chance

It’s frustrating and annoying… But well, I guess it’s worth it to push a little.

I do believe the link is wrong? Shouldn’t it be old.reddit.com not www.old.reddit.com?

Where have people advocating for everything in one sub been in the past decade? Single subs and centralization have been a problem on reddit since the beginning
