I would have used https://farside.link/ to point to a privacy frontend instead of Youtube directly.
But current tests show that doing so almost never results in a playable video.
So for now you get to visit the nasty spyware-filled Youtube interface. I hope that you all use browser addons that help you mitigate that.
If only it worked on current generation hardware other than pixel and, iirc, fairphone.
I used to love LineageOS, when I used it. But I seriously doubt the credibility of someone saying it is the ONLY sustainable ROM.
The obvious answer here is GrapheneOS, which is much better supported in-general.
better supported in what way?
I’m currently using Graphene. Their support ends when Google stops the support for the device irc.
Unfortunate that GrapheneOS only works on Pixel devices
I enjoyed Graphene but I had to go back to stock pixel because it was noticeably slower.
I don’t know why and I don’t know if that is still the case.
Everything worked flawlessly though, very impressive. If ever I buy a new phone I will be using it again. The only limitation, for me, was performance.
However, I try to use my laptop for everything I do, just gym/job and the dreaded occasional phone call.
Didn’t make it all the way through the video. In what way is it more “sustainable” than a different ROM?
sustainable is a fucking meaningless buzzword at this point and i will not watch the video or open it in an external media player, but lineageos is indeed pretty good.

Works most of the time, 99.22% uptime apparently (even though the uptime kuma page runs on the same server, so the weekly reboots for kernel updates don’t count as downtime). Also only 50 Mbps upload still.
