Now I’m wondering what happened 95 years ago that was worse.
The last time the US did wide sweeping tariffs it plunged a stagnant economy into the great depression. That was 95-96 years ago. Trump does the same thing expecting different results, gets even greater depression.
It’s funny because you have every expert known to man saying “this will be devastating for the economy” and no one listened. Now everyone’s 401k evaporates and they care all of a sudden. They were told this would happen and no one cared.
What Trump did is actually worse. His tariffs are even higher than the Smoot-Hawley ones.
The Trump’s supporters have not lost the faith.
I would assume not. At this point he could drive the car into a volcano and they would make up reasons about why it was actually a good thing.

This is going to be the greatest depression, folks, possibly in history they say. We’ve got the smartest people working on this depression.
