We Americans need to come to terms with the fact that this is how the rest of the world sees each and every one of us now. Either as an orcish, violent animals, or as selfish, cowardly quislings and bystanders. It doesn’t matter who you voted for, or who you sent $20 to here and there. We are giving our consent every single day we are not physically fighting back against this insanity. And that stench takes a generation to wash off.

Fun WWII parallel: after the war, reprisal murders against the German diaspora were a problem in Europe. I’ve seen it claimed that half a million Germans were killed this way, but nobody really knows because the public sentiment was so against Germany after the atrocities they committed. People kept quiet, police shrugged their shoulders and moved on.

Ignorance is not an excuse. Cowardice is not an excuse. It may not be your fault, but it is your responsibility to do something.

Americans in my experience are the first to admit the country’s issues and have been since before Trump. Which I’m mentioning because I see a lot of undirected hate towards them. That’s what Russia and China want. To isolate the US on every level. I’m all for military independence and bringing the pain to Trump’s economy but I think nuance when talking about the people is still in order. It’s foolish to assume that this could only happen in the US because the people there are inherently rotten. As a German, ask me how I know.

I wholeheartedly agree with you though. The fact that you’re not at fault for him being elected doesn’t mean you’re not responsible for your country’s future.

Remember that old saying, you can allways count on America to do the right thing, after trying everything else first.

At this moment you guys are trying out fascism, possibly going down the dictator or oligarc roule later, but eventually you will try democracy again, possibly with proportional representation, but you gotta learn your lesson first

the problem is how long does that take. We only have a limited number of years to live, and if that’s gonna all Trump / Trump Jr / Baron Trump / X Musk, maybe we should all think what’s best way to live.
