I’ve heard for years and years and years that we can’t have nice things because of the constitution, I even came around to believe in the constraints of the constitution, and it turns out that the conservative allegiance to the constitution was about as real as their belief in Christ’s teachings.

Well, when the president is above the law, it is a dictatorship. Judges can say this or that, trump does not give a shit and do not listen to them. Consequence? none, so he continues.

I have a friend who was a student during the revolution in Iran. They had high hopes for the country post-Shah but very quickly realized that it had gone wrong and left to move to Canada. The military is the final line of defense. That are sworn to protect the constitution. The only thing that can save the US now is if the military does its duty.
Only when it personally affects them and there’s no plausible deniability regarding the cause.
