You know what is really messed up about the publishing system we have? There are people out there that defend it. They claim the high costs are a “feature” that prevents fake/garbage papers from being published. Which best case scenario, shows that the emperor is stark naked.

I was diagnosed at 32 in my last semester of my undergrad. I just ended up with more stress than I could handle and ended up in therapy and thats when I found out.

Hillary didnt lose because she wasnt far enough left. She lost because she’s unlikeable, couldnt generate enthusiasm like Obama could and because not enough people understood the danger Trump posed. The polls had her at around a 90% chance of winning and a lot of people didnt vote because “why bother? We have it in the bag anyway and I dont like her.” Bernie’s problem OTOH is that even if he got it, which was exceedingly unlikely DNC meddling or not, congress would have to be left enough not to completely derail and water down most of the things he wanted to do. Which there was a zero percent chance of. He’s not a dictator. He has to actually work with like minded congress critters to get most things done.

No I am asking you not to make definitive statements about something that you could be wrong about. And definitely do not use it as a basis for arguments for why you deserve not to be discriminated against. The rationale for why you should be treated with respect and dignity does not depend on whether there’s a genetic basis for why you are the way you are. That is a solid foundation. Betting that science will never discover something is not.

If someone only accepts you because they dont know why you are the way that you are, thats not acceptance. Thats a bigot that is one excuse away from attacking you.

I think there is one concern that cant be argued against: if a genetic basis were found, that opens the way to parents selecting against those genes in their unborn children. Like… imagine parents or the government deciding that theyd very much like to eradicate LGBT people before theyre born and having the capability to make it happen.

Thing is… that mentality has lead bigots to argue that LGBT people chose to be the way that they are and used that to attack them. The reality is that the only way that bigots will ever be dealt with is by hammering home the concept that people should be left the fuck alone regardless of whether they had any agency in being who they are or are the result of genetic differences. Any argument that doesnt include that message is susceptible to attack and at some level falsely concedes that bigots somehow would have a point if a genetic basis for being LGBT were found. They dont. Genes or not, LGBT people should be left the fuck alone and treated just as well as anyone else.

Lithium salts are used to treat bipolar. Lithium, Sodium etc. need to be upped to “please reconsider.” Calcium and all the lanthanides are also metals I would not advise licking because theyre very reactive. Saying that our only options are to produce stuff or not produce CO2 at a gargantuan scale is a false dichotomy. CO2 production at the scale that it is now is the result of the production processes that result in that CO2 being cheaper than the ones that on the whole, do not. We are flushing this planet down the drain not because we cant do otherwise but because its cheaper right now to do what were doing instead.
