It’s not a full replacement for Discord, but it’s working towards that. If you just want a basic server for yourself and friends with emotes and voice chats, Revolt works. If you want polls, events, threads, forums, etc., it can’t replace your setup. I think the goal is to be a full Discord replacement in the future, but it’s still a work in progress (such is often the case with FOSS software maintained by hobbyists).

I use Docker for my setup and mistakenly had my qBittorrent download folder and my *arr media folders mounted as /downloads and /movies as opposed to /arr/downloads and /arr/movies

The *arr programs running inside their containers don’t know that the two folders are actually on the same drive because it sees them as two separate mount points. Once I changed my *arr containers to mount my directories correctly, the hard linking worked as expected instead of copying files over. I then ran fclones and recovered over 700 GB of storage from deduplication.

I had a few metadata issues with Jellyfin until I changed the primary metadata source to be the same as what Radarr/Sonarr use so they all the file names match up and I’ve had no issues since.

I also don’t have a notable issues with subtitles in Jellyfin, but maybe your requirements have more friction. Have you tried the (iirc included by default) Jellyfin plugin to automatically download subtitles for your stuff? Or the *arr program that handles subtitles (I forget its name)?

The Internet Archive is, and I really want to emphasize this, Fucking Huge. If you want to help archive it, every upload has an associated torrent you can download and help seed. Torrenting itself isn’t illegal, only torrenting illegal stuff like copyrighted movies. You can buy a relatively cheap refurbished HDD of whatever size you want, set up qBittorrent, and torrent the uploads that you want to make sure are available even if the Internet Archive has to take them down or has a critical data loss failure.

A lot of what this administration will do is going to be illegal and nonsensical and dumb, but they will do so much of it that it will be impossible to effectively push back against it all. If you hear something that you care about, pick that and keep up with it. Don’t get overwhelmed by the torrent of stuff happening over the next four years.

This is especially true in the current media environment, where there’s so much noise that it’s really difficult to break in and sort through what’s true and what’s false and what’s missing context and what’s misleading and what’s technically true but there are other factors that change how it plays out in reality, etc.

It takes a lot of energy to keep up with it all, so pick something you care about and pay attention to developments about that. Maybe that’s trans rights, immigrant rights, democratic institutions, economics, geopolitics, military industrial complex, whatever. Giving them fewer hours over four days means they’re more productive for those days because they’re not dragging out their work to fill the arbitrary 40 hours they have to work for. So companies pay workers the same, but can save money in amenities and office space or whatever by using it less AND have more productive workers. That’s still 200+ deaths who were registered. And my understanding of Saudia Arabia in this context is that they don’t always permit Muslims from certain countries, so they have no choice if they want to make their pilgrimage. This is the argument I see to defend use of the word and I’ve never understood it. Where I am (west coast-ish of the US), the word is used very specifically to mean autistic. If you ask someone not to say retard, they say autistic instead. If you ask them not to say autistic, they say special education. If not that, slow. If not that, someone who takes the short bus. Unambiguously the people here use the r slur as a slur against autistic people. They use it as an insult towards allistic people to degrade them as lesser. Same as calling a straight person the f slur. Maybe it’s different in other parts of the country, but the r slur is absolutely used as a slur against autistic people where I am.

I came across rewind.ai for macos a year ago and have wanted something like this for windows/linux ever since. As long as this is all processed on-device as promised, I’m super excited and it might actually be enough to get me to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11. According to available information that I’ve come across, everything is processed on-device and encrypted and 25gb can store months of rewind data depending on how much and how you use your device. At that rate, a terabyte should store about a decade of history (I can’t think of anything you would need to go that far back for though).

If security researchers don’t find sussy behavior where Recall sends back some sort of data beyond basic telemetry, there’s not really any higher of a privacy risk compared to using your computer as you currently do. Also you can disable it for certain applications and delete history when you want to (or disable the feature altogether). People are being really weird about this for reasons that have already been addressed.

Caddy has a docker labels plugin so you can use it similarly to how you use traefik. I have a github repo with an action that automatically runs I think the first of every month that checks for Caddy updates and builds the new caddy docker image with the plugins I want automatically.

I’m here to recommend Caddy instead of Jellyfin. It’s way easier to set up and just as performant. Example Caddyfile below (assuming they’re in the same Docker network and your Jellyfin container is named jellyfin):
