You must not have the soft close feature. I hate standing around for 20 seconds waiting for the soft close seat to drop so I can pee (learned the hard way that if you force it, it wears out in a couple years). So that would probably have killed this little ritual as soon as she had to go twice before you came along to put the seat down for her. It would annoy you sometimes too I bet, unless you stand up to shit.

Still, even though you don’t want to spoil the magic, maybe there are other ways to show affection, because (in order of importance):

1. Farticles on every surface ew?
2. It’s ugly to see straight into a toilet bowl when the bathroom is in view (and also very bad Feng Shui)
3. Habit/muscle memory will likely lead her to leave toilet seats up when she is a guest elsewhere, which is kind of hilarious actually, but could be hilarious at her expense

Admittedly, none of this is what you asked. But it’s weird how many people try to make toilet seats a fairness thing. If the lid is kept down, everyone has to take it from closed to open and back to closed again. Isn’t that fair?

This came up in an anti-racism group I belonged to many years ago, where I learned to try to be aware of my acceptance of whiteness as “default” or somehow raceless. I also learned not to jump in and center myself in conversations about how race is (or worse, should be) perceived by those negatively affected or sensitive to it—or at least I thought I learned that, but here I am about to press send.

I came away from that conversation with an understanding that while I may feel that my race is immaterial to my identity and my point of view, it is nonetheless a real component of the context of my attitudes and online presence, so it’s valuable to ask if there’s a reason I’d want to hide it.

No matter how much you want that, getting over your ex won’t make you more attracted to your girlfriend/roommate. But there might be someone out there that you will feel strongly enough about that the ex problem will take care of itself.

I’m having trouble interpreting the subject because of the competing scale of the foreground and background objects. I don’t know this artist’s work and I’m having trouble finding anything via Google, so I hope you won’t mind my asking, but is this meant to be surreal? Is there some statement intended about the tides washing away the remains of humanity? Are the graves already underwater? Or is this perhaps a more familiar sort of landscape in some other part of the world that I’ve simply never seen?

I figured the purpose was to warn us that these devices have been left plugged in while not in use, which is not advisable because they can become a fire hazard.
