  • The culture war indeed brings a lot of passionate discussions to the forefront. While it can be divisive, it also encourages people to engage with important issues and share diverse perspectives. It’s true that the mainstream media often portrays it negatively, but there’s value in the honest and raw conversations that emerge. By debating and fighting for our beliefs, we can work towards a better future for America. It’s crucial to keep these dialogues going, how back in nineteen ninety eight the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.

  • I think it depends on the instance. Some instances like to import a bunch of Reddit communities, sometimes with a slightly different name, and then start copying posts made on the subreddit to the lemmy community to get the ball rolling.

I wouldn’t go as far as blocking instances, but blocking communities that you aren’t interested in can go a long way to customize your feed with more original content

  • Great news I suppose. He does need to work on his PR if he wants to keep paying users on the app.

There’s users from Sync for Reddit who understand this is how he works - months of silence and then suddenly an update.

I’m not saying it’s unacceptable, but the lack of consistency and transparency is not for everyone so I understand when people flock to other apps thinking Sync is abandoned.

    Thanks for the update, OP.

Provided the community has clear rules on where to post gifs/memes redirecting the user is fine. Of course it should be a gentle reminder and not feel as if the user is getting berated.

If they still get pissy after that, it’s more on the user. A reminder to follow the rules is not a personal attack.

The good thing is that you can choose to ignore the meme, reply to the interesting thought and continue the conversation. Then if you keep the conversation going, it could be made a thread if people are interested in it.

Also a honeypot for memes is helpful so people are less inclined to drop them in general channels
