  • I agree. My point though is, that this is not relevant. For me, it’s not about changing all purchases to somethingt that is European. I see it as much more valuable to choose European over other brands when you have the choice. In this case I don’t see it as a choice. You buy Chinese, or Chinese distributed by a European company. It’s the same in the end, besides you having paid much more for the same product. If you do buy European wine over American though, or meat, or services, it makes a lot more sense

  • In my opinion it does not belong here. I appreciate the hype and effort of trying to buy European ,but there is no reason calling this European simply because the distributor is European or they have put their name on the product

We have the same issue here in Denmark. Super markets have started marking European products with a star on the price tag. They do mark Californian raisins as European, simply because a European brand buys them from the US and distributes them.

  • The EU have made laws regarding the right to be forgotten. If the companies breach this, they face huge fines, as a percentage of their overall earnings. That said, I am loosing faith in how often they get enforced and how easily you can complain to the authorities about it.

Also, i am in doubt of how much data they can actually maintain, while anonymizing it. So they may keep your data, but remove any personal link to you as a person.

  • I appreciate, that the company in German, but lets be honest… If a German company bought Coca Cola, or Pepsi and sold it, to you would it be European too?

I understand the hype and i am also very excited about the move towards more European trade, but let’s not fool ourselves with this being European. It is a fact that very few electronics are made in EU, and this is something that we have to accept. This is indeed something that USA has failed to realize and are now making products more expensive to themselves, because production will not more to them. Asia makes electronics for the whole world. You can’t move products for USA to USA, or for EU to EU without the final product getting way more expensive

  • Yeah, this is one of the companies that I trust to be doing shady stuff. Especially after the Pay or Ok move they did for 1½ year ago, forcing people to either pay a crazy subscription fee to avoid targeted ads, (for me it was close to €30 a month), or accept them. before that, you could opt out of targeted ads (but not tracking).

That said, even when paying a subscription, they would still track you, and still run suggested content, even from commercial accounts.

  • I feel your pain. I too am considering creating an account simply because it is needed for work and family stuff.

Here you can have a messenger account without having facebook but even that seem to be performing badly, because i dont have facebook. People have trouble finding me and I can’t always join group chats.

I have considered using an old phone just for Facebook and getting an extra phone number to verify the account with. Then only use Facebook through that device and leave it at home. Maybe I’ll have to give Facebook my info but can as well prohibit then from tracking me

  • We are all different. I personally prefer the meat burgers to the vegan alternatives. If they had made a burger with “RootBites”, or whatever, that maybe even were the same as the ones they use for a veggie burger, i wouldn’t even compare them to a meat burger, and would not see them as an alternative to mean. Just a great option, like any other ingredient, but not compared to meat.

I understand what you’re saying though. I just feel that it is sad to compare veggie products to meat products. They are great for what they are, not for imitating meat

The whole plan was to move production back to the US. The thing though is, that you can’t make Americans sit and sew Jeans that sell sell for $15 or assemble electronics for $6/hr

Maybe you could 100 years ago, but there is s a reason why we trade across the world and its not because we are kind. It is because it makes companies more money.

This will be mostly messy for the US. The rest of the world now has tarrifs on the US. But US now has tarrifs on the whole world. Any other country can look into expanding in new markets now, but the US has shut all its doors
