  • I’m curious if this was going to apply to content on non-Chinese Facebook. Another part of the article referring to hiring a “chief editor” explicitly says that the editor part would apply to the Chinese version only, but at the same time, Facebook removed content posted by a person in New York from Facebook at the request of the Chinese government, so it could go either way.

If somebody is decrying the state of free speech in their podcast, show or in the campaign trail you can be pretty confident it’s an empty platitude. That said, you probably won’t find many examples of people willing to defend free speech or any civil liberties the moment their freedom is on the line. That’s not Zuck though. He’s just full of it.

  • Played it during and just after the beta. Gun play felt a bit strange and felt like the game was a bit too punishing when you failed a stage; thing second level of Hard Rain on expert type thing. The game does have a cool aesthetic and some cool zombie ideas though and it looks really nice. I think they shot then selves in the foot a bit by comparing it so heavily to L4D instead of just letting people do that thenselves. The game also used Easy Anti-cheat if that’s a dealbreaker for you. But! For $20 AUD or less I’d say it’s worth it as long as you don’t expect to pour hours into it.

This is the most infuriating part. The best solution to these issues is to remove the need to move in the first place, and WFH for the people that want it and who can do it removes a huge amount of traffic with comparably little cost (company laptop, a screen and maybe a desk and chair, many of which could just be taken from the office).

  • This is why people say not to use USB for permanent storage. But, to answer the question:

    • From memory, “nofail” means the machine continues to boot if the drive does not show up which explains why it’s showing up as 100GB: you’re seeing the size of the disk mounted to / .
    • If the only purpose of these drives is to be passed through to Open Media Vault, why not pass through the drives as USB devices? At least that way only OMV will fail and not the whole host.
    • Why USB? Can the drives ve shucked and connected directly to the host or do they use a propriety connector to the drive itself that prevents that?

They cry about not being able to serve ads while serving ads that are straight malware and scams. It’s especially funny when a platform goes out of their way to censor (suppress ad revenue) on videos which have even a chance of being misinformation and then proceed to play back to back ads of somebody selling their get rich quick webinar.

  • I haven’t played that much, but it’s essentially survival sandbox in a Lego world. The game has a village mechanic where you do tasks to level up your village and build housing/beds for people who show up similar to Terraria. The game feels like it’s focused around building Lego-style towns with a survival element. The game has prefabs you can buy and put together in the game, but you can also build them yourself without buying them (I think).

The thing I’ve been impressed by is most emotes and characters from Battle Royal carry over into Lego counterparts.

All this said, Minecraft remains king. Fortnite Lego feels very much locked down and I have fears over what happens if Epic lose interest in it. I would be very cautious to invest time in it like you would a Minecraft or Terraria world.
