Dunno if it changes anything, but user224 posted this link elsewhere in this discussion, and it says the pipe was 30cm (almost a foot) in diameter – I’m no expert, but the photos in this and OP’s article seem to show an opening about that size to me. I only mention it because that seemed uncommonly large to me.
You can say that again. Growing up in Florida, I’ve been in a lot of swimming pools and water parks, and I have never seen anything like what is shown in the video attached to this article. That opening is huge. user224’s link says the pipe is 30cm (almost a foot) in diameter. Even in giant public pools I’ve been in, I can’t recall seeing an opening or fixture that size. That, coupled with a lack of any cover on it, seems so obviously dangerous. God, what an awful way to go.
Yeah, this revelation didn’t get so much as a raised eyebrow from me.
The agreement will allow Disney to build a fifth theme park—possibly a water park—in the state on the condition the monolith donates just 100 of its expansive 24,000 acres to infrastructure projects controlled by the state. Disney will also need to hire Florida-based construction companies for “at least half” of its projects, as well as make a generous $10 million dollar donation to affordable housing in the area.
That last bit is particularly interesting, wonder how that will work.
Yeesh. I read the updated report linked in this article and still didn’t see any mention of where the officer went after he ran over this woman. I’m wondering why it was up to bystanders to try and lift this truck off of her, instead of, ya know, the police officer moving his vehicle just a few more inches one way or the other. Not that it would have saved her, I guess. :/
Thanks for posting this. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, and voted blue-no-matter-who in every election since I was eligible to vote, as do all my friends and family. I try to help others within my sphere of influence to make good political choices, too, and those conversations can be hard. My area has been particularly red for as long as I can remember, and that has only gotten more true in recent years. It often sucks to live here but I am stuck for the foreseeable future, and so I am putting forth the effort to change what I am able.
As such, I have always found it a bit discouraging that so many seem to think that Florida is some hive-mind phenomenon, wherein every eligible person votes against their own best interests in perfect unison. I mean, a lot of them do, obviously – but the lack of empathy for the rest of us, that’s the weird part to me.
Guess the novelty kinda wore off after the hundred-millionth time.
True, but meat-based hot dogs are typically fully cooked and so only need to be warmed, too… Grilling is just kind of a fun activity for me, and it adds a little snap and smoky flavor that you can’t get by boiling them. That said, grilled veggie dogs were a little different, but still pretty good!
They’re from “Morning Star Farms,” though I was careful to only say that they taste right, haha – They don’t plump up when cooked, and are prone to scorching in spots on the grill. But the flavor is spot on!
Same here. I tried out blackbean burgers, plant-based hot dogs, tofu and almond milk in my last couple of grocery runs, just to see what’s up. Turns out I really like tofu as a substitute for ground beef, and the veggie dogs tasted just like all beef franks to me. And none of these things were any more expensive than meat, so that’s also a big plus.
assuming they could get it to stay in place to begin with.
Perhaps the mouthpiece would serve as a “flared base,” as it were.
You’re trying, and that’s more than anyone could have asked for. To love is to mourn. It’s hard to open up a part of yourself, knowing it could hurt you later, but you’re doing it, and no matter what happens, you’ve made a difference. Good luck.
Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina
I loved that book as a kid! Tales of the Bounty Hunters, too. I’m excited for the possibility that Acolyte could be something like those, and branch out into some new territory. I also know Disney is terrified of the possibility of alienating even the most casual watcher, so I’m also emotionally prepared for this to turn into GONK: The Beginning or some other OT prop origin story.
This feels like it could be a new indicator for the relationship between economy and education… The Pizza Party Slice Index?
It’s an ad for redballoon[dot]work, who describe themselves as “America’s #1 woke-free job board & talent connector.”
YouTube suggested this same video to me the other day and my partner and I were both completely distracted by the ad. Googling the first phrase I could pick out gave me plenty of results for other discussions. Almost feels like a PsyOp, lol.
Dunno if this helps you at all, but I’ve been using BitWarden to manage my passwords since I made the switch from Chrome to Firefox (both on PC and my Android phone). It doesn’t fill passwords automatically in either case, but it’s not much extra work to invoke BitWarden to fill those fields as-needed on either device, and it works very consistently. It’s also (I’m told) much more secure. Just thought I’d share that here!
I live real close to the house he lived in when he was a kid. There’s even a “Riders on the Storm Inn” here in town… 😌 I don’t know a lot about the man that he was and I’m too young to have seen The Doors play, though I really enjoy “People Are Strange,” and a few other songs of theirs. I’m glad he found a way out of this place, though, even if it was only for a short time.
I had a very cool bus driver in middle school that let us play any tape we wanted on the way to school. Discovered The Offspring (and lots of others) that year. Smash always bring back fond memories!
I’m not sure. Realizing I had no idea how much wealth the truly wealthy possess has been a reoccurring theme from the past few years. I think I’d rather see some hard limitations on who can own what.
