I’ve always wondered what people mean when they say they want a freak. From my limited anecdotal experiences they mean, “someone who’s only into vanilla sex, but is very energetic about it.”

I have a couple patches of apple mint in my yard, which doesn’t seem to spread much. It legitimately does smell amazing while I’m mowing and has always grown back by the next time I mow.

People can get accustomed to their environment, even actively harmful environments. Choosing to stay where you are is an exertion of control for people who currently (and often for most of their lives) have very little control over their lives.

You can see it in everybody, just not to such a self-damaging extent. I can’t blame anyone stuck in it, the same way I don’t blame people who stay in abusive homes.

I used to love C++ and I still do to some extent. But the longer I am away from it the more I realize it was largely just Stockholm syndrome.

Exactly. Everyone at work uses it to cut the chain of “Looks good”, “Thanks”, “No problem”, etc short. If you’re interpreting an emoji as an attack you might have anger issues.

Very good. People will say that Season 2 isn’t as good, but that’s only because Season 1 is a masterpiece. There was no way to match that, but it’s still great.

As an American, I support this. Do not come here. Not only to send a monetary message, but because I genuinely don’t feel like tourists are safe. ICE and DHS have gone off the rails, and nobody should risk their lives to visit what little beauty we have left.

It would fail if they tried today. But after 3-7 more years of eroding voting rights, empowering intimidation and misinformation groups, and emplacing loyal people in state governments? I think they could get all 50 states. He’s going to run for a third term regardless because it’s obvious by now that nobody will stop him, but having the amendment in place will be a fitting capstone to his power grab.

I can’t speak for the desktop side, but for my server it’s been running without interruption for years. About once per week I do something stupid and use all available memory, but it hasn’t crashed once. It just runs a bit slow until I free up some RAM, then Docker comes back to life once I free up some disk space. I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a server OS that just works.

If it added value then I wouldn’t be opposed. But I don’t see what value AI could possibly add to a social network. Some specific fields, like researchers combing through large data sets, have benefitted from AI. Every other place it’s been shoehorned into has suffered for it.

If you see a problem and realize AI could address it, then that’s fantastic. If you’re coming at it from the other direction and looking for problems then you’re going to waste everyone’s time.
