Yeah, I’m not really agreeing or disagreeing with either of you.

I think they exaggerated the “Trump will fix everything” when the general sentiment from the genocide Joe/ both sides crowd was “they’re equally bad”

And clearly, they aren’t equally bad. Trump is much much worse. And we’re seeing ample proof of that.

Yet, the genocide Joe people are still plugging their ears and yelling.

It wasn’t so much that people claimed Trump would be better. However, people claiming they would be equally bad because you can’t get worse than genocide were fucking EVERYWHERE. Every single thread, even threads not even tangentially related to Gaza or politics. They canvased every thread. And they’re still here.

  • Rofl. Biden/Harris trying everything they could to circumvent the blockade to get supplies into Gaza. Trump literally saying he wants to expel the remaining Palestinians and take their land for himself.

You will never admit you were wrong. You will go to your deathbed self assured with yourself that you never compromised on your ideals no matter what actually happens to Gazian Palestinians.

If it wasn’t abundantly obvious to the rest of ya’ll before, these soapbox “never genocide” bad actors never gave a single shit about what happens Palestinians.

  • Still the only movie I left the theater mad that I spent money on it.

Aliens capable of interstellar travel, coordinating a planetary invasion, that spent decades doing recon ahead of time, and all they do is run around naked. Ohh, and they chose a planet covered 70% with acid (to them) that literally falls from the sky.

So. Fucking. Stupid. And not in a fun way.

  • It’s easy to rage against the machine on a moral pedestal. It’s harder to actually steer the machine in the right direction.

To be clear, I am supportive of putting things to a vote even if there’s no chance it succeeds. Get the votes on record. I think that’s an important archive that can be used later in election season to hold politicians accountable for their votes.

I like what Bernie and AOC are doing when they push for these kinds of votes.

But make no mistake. They can only do this from a position of being unable to effect any change. Under normal conditions, moves like this poison the well and make others on both sides less willing to work with you.

They have the luxury of grandstanding specifically because they have zero hope of garnering support.

Someone like a president can’t really do something like this without completely burning their political capital.

  • This is the key problem that seems to be getting buried everywhere

The big challenge has been that humanitarian convoys have stopped carrying the aid from the pier’s storage area further into Gaza, to get it into civilian hands, because they have come under attack.

If we’re not worrying about the cost of the pier, which I don’t think the Left is at all, then it’s really not about the storms and the maintenance that’s needed to keep it operational.

The problem is Isreal is still functionally blocking the aid from reaching the people.

So why spend so many resources on this pier and put your people at risk, when distribution of the delivered aid is blockaded the same as the land aid.

I’ve borrowed my parents minivan for this in the past, but their newer Odyssey (~8yr old) doesn’t even fit sheet goods without going diagonal, which causes problems. Plus even with care, it inevitably scratches up the interior.

I’d rather have a medium to small sized truck with a standard to extended bed. I don’t care about scratches or dents, so can just toss things in without a worry, and can load without even lowering the tailgate.

No, it’s an extended cab model, which have tiny beds. Like, you can’t even fit standard construction material (8ft) in it with the tailgate down without it sticking out well past the tailgate.

Yes, trucks are longer than they used to be, but extended cabs are far more common than they were. Living in a city, the vast majority of trucks are extended cabs with tiny beds.

They’re basically SUVs with an open trunk. Enough room for a tool chest and a cooler, and you’ll need to hitch a trailer if you actually want to haul anything.
