WR5@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•BDS calls for boycott of Microsoft and Xbox gaming products over alleged Israeli military connectionsEnglish123·12 days agoI mean Nintendo isn’t really pro-consumer either. I’m not sure if they donate or support genocide, but they are pretty capitalistic to a fault.
WR5@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•BDS calls for boycott of Microsoft and Xbox gaming products over alleged Israeli military connectionsEnglish51·12 days agoAgain, agreed. The original poster said “use Linux, that will remove everything Microsoft”. That is disingenuous, because you can use Linux and still purchase Microsoft products compatible with Linux. So my point was not to toss your existing items. However, you cannot replace your existing physical Microsoft products, purchase new digital content, or support any of Microsoft software in addition to switching from Windows. I didn’t imply anything about what you may already own.
WR5@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•BDS calls for boycott of Microsoft and Xbox gaming products over alleged Israeli military connectionsEnglish73·12 days agoI agree with all of this, my point is your Xbox controller is a Microsoft product? And if you purchase or play any games owned by Microsoft, they are also Microsoft products? So you would need to boycott all of that as well. That is just a much larger net cast than just not using Windows.

It’s not just Windows OS.
WR5@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is one moral you have that most people don't agree with?21·12 days agoI agree with OP, and I think you may as well but are stating it differently. Hardships and difficulty so indeed provide the opportunities to better oneself, but that shouldn’t come from contrived abuse like bullying or hazing. Those are instances of someone using their previous difficulty as an excuse to make it harder for someone else which I don’t believe is morally correct.

WR5@lemmy.worldto RPGMemes @ttrpg.network•If it is the Will of the Dice, Anything is Possible (Art by Shen Comix)3·12 days agoI wasn’t arguing in bad faith. Everything I said was factual, honest, and trustworthy. You are correct that a nat 20 caused them to be really smart and have the best chance to read the runes (nothing shows them actually reading it to be fair). This is because the nat 20 is the highest possible roll available to the player, before modifiers are added! In many instances, rolling that high passes skill checks up to “Hard” (according to the DMG) automatically unless you have some negative modifiers. With the assumption that this player was attempting something actually attainable, this high roll is translated as the character having the absolute epitome of their ability to translate the runes (whether or not it is successful.)
WR5@lemmy.worldto RPGMemes @ttrpg.network•If it is the Will of the Dice, Anything is Possible (Art by Shen Comix)554·13 days agoIt does in fact apply to skill checks and ability checks. Nat 20 just means rolling a 20 naturally on the dice before any modifiers are added :) I think what you meant was that “critical success” only applies to combat! In this instance, the natural 20 still means it’s the highest possible roll for an ability checks which gives it the highest possibility of success.
Just a daily reminder that someone can always come around and surpass in pedantry. (Sorry I couldn’t resist :) No hard feelings meant)
Negative fifteen only works for absolute value, but it’s fun to point out
I loved Tally Hall. I used to listen to Ruler of Everything on repeat.
Windows 10 was actually fine for me, it was the jump to 11 that broke it. Audio jack headphones, then Bluetooth, and still nothing.
Yeah when it updated to Windows 11 I also started noticing the news/ads on boot and in the start menu which were obnoxious. Another benefit to switch I suppose. And thank you! If I run into issues I’m sure I’ll be taking you up on that offer.
I built my desktop specifically to be pretty robust and future proof it for a few years: RYZEN 7 7800X3D, RTX 4070TI super, B650 Gaming Motherboard, and 64GB DDR5 RAM. It wasn’t having any issues playing games on windows until windows just started messing with the system unfortunately.
Wine off the wine tree and swine off the swine tree; it’s basically paradise!
