  • The claim being made by the right is that they have to get rid of DEI to make it more of a meritocracy where people are hired only due to their ability and experience. This clearly shows they give zero shits about a meritocracy.

The problem is OP assumes that they have any kind of shame or that double standards and cognitive dissonance isn’t just their natural state at this point.

  • AI. Consumers get the leftovers that can’t be binned high enough to be H100s that they can sell for 30k a piece to companies doing AI work. The 50 series uses the same node as the 40 series, so they stopped production on the 40s to allocate time to the new chips. Of course this has the nice effect of stopping cannibalization of sales when it turns out the 5080 is basically a 4080 super and would be binned as a x070 or x060 Ti part in prior gens.

Either way it looks like they only started working on them early January based on some investigation so far (https://youtu.be/wMd2WHKnceI) so there’s likely only a couple thousand 5090s even in existence.

  • Ubiquiti’s Unifi and TP-Link’s Omada are certainly trying to edge in on Meraki from the Prosumer level (and not having to pay license fees to unlock hardware you already have is a plus). They both have local control hardware / software too if you don’t trust them with your data.

Fortinet was on my shortlist, along with OPNsense’s prebuilt hardware. Ended up just sticking with Mikrotik and getting 10Gb going for less than half the price though. Might be overkill but sure makes my media server and backups faster. Now if only Windows could actually saturate the link and not struggle to get 5Gb
