Hey, r/fuckcars is a thing on Reddit too, what we should focus on is bringing all kinds of people, lemmy can have both who love and hate cars just like Reddit, that’s the aim haha.
This shows how important choices are, one of the big reasons BYD was successful is because of the variety of body styles they offer and not just SUVs like almost every automaker likes to these days.
Thanks to federation and open source software, this shouldn’t be an issue.
First of all, thank you! And yes, I agree with you here and I have indeed come to respect and understand that. It doesn’t matter regardless of one’s ideologies, we are all humans at the end of the day and I no longer believe that can negatively affect an open source and decentralized platform. I have to admit, I made a mistake with judging Lemmy based on that, as someone who grew in India, Mexico, Canada and now in the USA, I realize I’ve grown in countries that have been using a democratic system, hence learning about what a “tankie” is (funny I didn’t even know what that mean’t before) or idealogies that are radically different put me in unease, but now I’ve learned to respect that and it is clear one’s personal ideas such as that can’t affect a platform like Lemmy, especially when federation gives us choices in the form of instances.
I think a good starting point would be advertising Lemmy where possible on your subreddit, such as pinning an equivalent futurology community from Lemmy linked to a reddit post and pinning that, also mention your lemmy community on other places like mentioning Lemmy and asking users to consider Lemmy instead on the welcome message when new users join/subscribe to r/futurology.
Kbin has this figured out, they now have an in-built community request system.
That is terrible, so many of the communities I’d actually like to moderate and even move from Reddit (as I mod some of them on Reddit) to here is impossible as many of them are taken by inactive mods.
Ty for letting me know! Just edited it
EDIT: Oh, it’s a bot 😅
Not all communities though. It’s also weird the other comments on this thread from before is no longer appearing? Either a bug/issue from my end or the mods here removed the other comments…
@ruud@lemmy.world Please do take a look at this issue. Thank you.
You might be right, I am not sure, but Ask Kbin before actually used to federate well and often got people from lemmy.world and lemmy.ml, now I just cant seem to find AskKbin from here.
To mention, I dont think it’s a bug although I might be wrong, the post here from the admins mention they have not really defederated it, but they have removed Kbin communities from Lemmy.world so only users from Kbin can see content here, one side only.
The communities I mentioned are from Kbin.social actually.
YOU FORGOT ROBO TAXIS MAN! THEY ARE COMING NEXT YEAR
