I had issues with DNS checks and traced it to my pihole. I changed that container’s resolv.conf to use cloudflare DNS and it has been working fine since. It was with Caddy so needed to change over to use IPs.

Sometimes I’ll lower resolution or quality just so a game loads quicker.

Another thing to remember is the client needs to support decoding the video in hardware or have enough CPU to handle it in software. I have intel i7 (3rd gen) with no hardware HEVC/x265 support but it has enough CPU to power through.

They still build recommendations even if you’re not logged in, you can see them in the sidebar after you load a video. Imo they only removed them from the homepage to try convincing people to log in or create account, it’s all about increasing user numbers, ad engagement, and data collection these days.

Does TrueNAS have a web UI that works well on mobile browsers for file download and upload? If it does then could probably use for simple scenarios.

I’d rather not wear anything on my wrists but I like data so wear an Apple watch 7 to collect health data. I use Health Auto Export app on iOS to sync health data to homeassistant. I found straightforward guide to set it up but it is not perfect, need to open the app regularly for the data sync to happen. Battery life sucks, for my usage max it’ll last is a little over 2 days. Quick charging works well enough so usually only gotta charge for a few mins once a day.

Yep, I only played through couple races & was a few beers in, it felt acceptable for me at the time. Not sure how it would be with the latest gen Elgato cards & they are pricey so best to buy from store with a good return policy.

I have never seen a capture device with USB interface have any kind of usable latency, you’ll want one with PCI Express interface.

Elgato makes a capture card with PCI Express interface, I had a friend who used one to play all of his consoles on big virtual screen in VR. I tried out Mario Kart 8 for the Switch and it played great.

My mother used to regularly do photo albums with family photos before we all went digital so I’ve been looking for a solution for years. Nextcloud has been decent with a few apps installed. Only done a couple small albums & worked for my needs. The face detection is alright but cheap cameras, blurry photos, and random mix of internet saved photos doesn’t help, lol. The map view works really well for photos with GPS data. I have my phone setup to automatically upload all new photos to Nextcloud too. Lately been working on plans to share access with my family over zerotier so they can view and upload their own to share back with me.

My current workaround for that is adding whatever I want to shuffle into a playlist. I have one with some sci-fi shows in it that I regularly use. Smart collections is my most missed feature from Plex.
