Back a few years ago, some Facebook-style rumors were spun to list reasons margarine is supposedly bad for you, including the idea that it’s made of plastic (totally forgetting the fact we have the FDA), and now nobody in my family will buy it even though butter is worse for you (and less ethical).

Is it possible the paint causes this?
