I don’t think it counts as “nobody watching” since many people saw it technically, but I will often pull over to ask if people on the side of the highway need help as long as I’m not running late for something.

I helped a Hispanic guy recently change his tire since he apparently misplaced his lug nut wrench and he had a blowout. I let him use mine and I topped off the air in his spare that was a little low. Took me a little while to figure out what he needed since he didn’t speak a word of English and I failed Spanish 3 times, but we got there using Google translate, hand signals and grunts haha.

I do it because I hope that if one day I was stranded on the side of the road (and somehow without all the tools I always carry around) that someone would be nice enough to stop and offer assistance.

Honestly planes are a little harder. Pretty much all airspace is monitored so it’s more likely to be noticed.

Then again I haven’t smuggled drugs for the cartels in years so maybe they figured out a way around that little problem.

The brightness is one thing but also the alignment. These people install new headlights or the manufacturers just do not adjust the lights alignment correctly at all.

I installed entire new headlight assemblies in my car upgrading from weak stock crap bulbs to LEDs with running lights, but I FUCKING ADJUSTED THEM afterwards.

If I am ~50 feet from a wall there is a hard line where the top of my lights do not shine. That line is purposely placed so it won’t shine until cars in front of me unless I am every far away from them or there is an elevation difference. Sitting behind a car at the lights my lights will cut off generally right below the top of the trunk of most sedan models.

I have never seen a headlight that could not be adjusted up and down with a little screw. Maybe the newest cars need an app or something stupid but I would be willing to bet they can also be adjusted.

I am so glad I don’t have to deal with computers like that in my life. I cannot imagine the troubleshooting steps involved with figuring out which of the 73,698 wires you plugged into the wrong place.

I also never really cared for the term “transphobia”. I’m not afraid of trans people. I think they are humans that deserve love and respect like anyone else. I just don’t agree with all their talking points and I don’t think they should have blanket access to every sports league just because they have deluded themselves into believing they are actually the same as biological women or men.

Most people are too scared and/or weak willed to speak up against something they might disagree with from their own “people” so to speak.

Fear of being abandoned or cast aside leaves a lot of people feeling trapped and that they have to go along with it.

I think the left is way too anti-american these days and I think the right needs to recognize that we aren’t always so star spangled awesome anymore either.

It’s disingenuous to pretend that America has done nothing good and are nothing but a bunch of fat racist losers or whatever they say.

But it’s also disingenuous to try and pretend like America is number 1 in everything all the goddamn time.

Since this is Lemmy I pretty much only ever see people taking huge stinking turds all over America and aggressively so. I’m not normally patriotic in any major way but listening to these people just straight up lie about America constantly starts to get to me at some point.

It is as if there is a list of positions that you’re required to believe and if you disagree with any one of them you’re labeled a heretic (transphobic, in this case).

This has been my biggest issue with a lot of people on the far left for a long time now. There is no room for anyone who might agree with 90% of their politics but disagree on one thing. In this case it’s the transgender athletes topic. My own mother who is deeply left/blue/democrat has issues with this specific topic as well and she has seen just how inflexible people she believesd to be her own political allies can be about these things.

The majority of sports leagues currently dominated by male players have no rules against women participating. They just typically cannot physically compete against the top .1% of male athletes.

So technically they are already the “mixed” sport league.

This is why I am glad they now have a minimum weight requirement. No more drivers starving themselves or skipping drinking water just for .01 seconds a lap advantage.

Still a small benefit with lighter drivers since you can choose where you want to add the ballast within the bounds of the seat IIRC, but it’s basically negligible gains at that point.
