I used to live up near Lake Tahoe. I lost count of how many city folk would think all wheel drive would be enough and skipped chains/cables.

One of our favorite things was watching people pour hot coffee or water on their frozen windshield. Man that never stopped being hilarious to watch. They would often just stand there in disbelief after their windshield shattered lol.

Unlike men there is no erection that needs to be maintained for continuous “sex” to take place. Now some people will argue that foreplay and aftercare count towards total time taken to boink, but no matter how you slice it there is a bit of a running joke that some lesbians can sorta just have sex all day.

I used to be a zoom admin for a very large college before and during the start of COVID. At that time I never recall seeing anything about participation metrics and whatnot. Other than someone recording the meeting and watching it back I don’t think there is anything they can see besides who joined and what/if they typed.

I will say the admins can see “private” dms to each other if they really want to. So while nobody else in the call can see what you’re typing to your buddy in the moment the admins can if they want to. So don’t type anything in those private chats unless you would hypothetically be ok with your boss seeing it.

It’s been a few years since I left that job though so it possible they have added more data logging for things like camera and mic “on” time.

Personally even now for my work as long as I connect to the meetings when I’m supposed to they never care if I turn on my webcam or unmute. I’ll answer the random question thrown my way, but otherwise I’m on my phone or doing actual work work while sorta half listening to whatever meeting.

We had blackberries in our backyard growing up. Every year we would cut and dig up as much of every plant as we could possibly see and we would scrape the top 6 inches of soil to move it far away.

We would burn them all before we churned the soil and burned some more.

We tried every trick and “natural” solution people recommended, but nothing ever stopped them from coming back.

My super hippy mom got so fed up she bought turbo cancer death chemicals and sprayed them everywhere. The blackberries finally stopped coming back.

It’s been 15 years and shes still mad that’s how she finally got rid of the blackberries.

I never said it wasn’t a shitty system. Just that 900 bucks over the course of 5 years is not an unfathomably amount of money to pay for something. I’ve spent more than 900 on a single car repair several times in my life. Unless they have been living in abject poverty I just don’t see how they couldn’t have paid it off by now. Median American income for a household is 80k. Yeah they aren’t living in luxury but they can afford the occasional expense.

They are an American. It’s not like 900 dollars is some insurmountable of money to pay off in 5 years. 180 bucks a year. 15 bucks a month.

My extended family is German and British. I am well aware how the gypsies are thought of by many over there.

I have lost track of how many times I have brought up gypsies when they are taking about how racist Americans are and then suddenly “it’s different”. They literally don’t even look at it the same way. That’s some wild shit.

The prison industrial complex and traditional slavery are two completely different beasts. I am not trying to take away from the very current and real problem with our country and its prison system, but this conversation is more talking about the good old-fashioned type of slavery that we abolished in 1865.

We ended our slavery (aside from the prison industrial complex, but that’s kinda a different animal to “traditional” slavery) over 100 years ago. There are still many places in the world with slavery today that people seem less interested in talking about than our historical slavery.

I’m not trying to downplay our history but we can’t exactly change the past. But we can put eyes on the current slavery going on but we often don’t because people are still focusing on our old slavery. There’s a real “America bad” boner on the Internet and it’s always a little funny to me. Like yeah we are far from perfect, but it’s a little weird to be shitting on us for something we ultimately stopped doing while other places are still actively doing it.

It is always funny when other places shit on America for our history of slavery. Like Koreans for example. They had the longest unbroken chain of slavery of any modern society and yet you’ll still have some of them trying to say Americans are the worst because of our history of slavery.

It’s like… All places in the world had (or still have) slavery going on. Why does the Internet seem to think we were the worst offenders???

Ain’t no racism like Asian racism. I lived with a Chinese buddy of mine for almost 10 years. He said American racism has nothing on Asian racism. Some of the Chinese and Japanese people legitimately despise each other. Long history of atrocities between them.

That’s the best part. It kinda works either way.
