I share your optimism. I’d love to see Ecosia + Qwant (or whoever, really) succeed.

That’s a fair point, “misleading” might’ve been a poor choice of words, but - one of the points on their page reads
“Our solar panels produce enough energy to power your searches twice over, meaning more renewables (and fewer fossil fuels) in the energy grid.”
So fair enough, they’re offsetting enough to power the connection from their users to Google/MS; I just thought this quote (and their home page in general) glossed over their reliance on those 3rd parties to “do the dirty work”, so to speak.
Hey, that’s cool! I hope they can keep up the environmental message as they wean off Google/MS. Have they given a timeframe on when they hope to implement it? Seems like a huge task.
Question for the Ecosia fans in the audience - The “we plant trees with ad revenue” is pretty cool, but they’re just a front end for Google (or Bing), yeah?
If so, isn’t their whole “we’re green” thing misleading? Does it really support EU interests if the backend is still US?
It’s not.
It’s about motive.
Officials then revealed in the statement, obtained Monday by USA TODAY, that the relationship between the suspects and Nordquist suggests it was not a hate crime.
Nordquist and those suspected in his death were known to each other, and all identified as LGBTQ+, authorities said. At least one of the suspects lived with Nordquist before his death, the statement added.
A “hate crime” by most definitions is motivated purely by a prejudice against someone because of their race/gender/sexuality. If the culprits were just doing this because they’re psychotic, it wouldn’t be pursued as a “hate crime”.
“We are still in the early stages of this investigation,” according to a statement. “We urge the community not to speculate into the motive behind the murder as we work to find justice for Sam.”
It sounds like it’s still possible it’ll be tried as a hate crime, but the revelation that the culprits were known to the victim and also identified as LGBTQ+ means there’s likely more to the motive.

Because it’s a reference to suggested long-term nuclear waste warning messages.
This message is a warning about danger.
Palworld wouldn’t have been half as popular without Nintendo’s constant push to take it down.
“Cannonball Punch” sounds like a fun move, though.
After 1979 -
The hippie trail largely ended in the late 1970s primarily due to both the Iranian Revolution resulting in an anti-Western government, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, closing the route to Western travelers.
I’m just not sure why you’ve depicted yourself urinating on the floor.
Fuck firewire. Glad it’s dead. USB C is the best thing to happen to peripherals since the mouse.
I love this kinda crap. “Hack the planet” and so on. Is someone working on an open source car?
One day I hope to write a “go fuck yourself” email of this caliber.
$750 - $1,000 for the prebuilt? $400 for the DIY option?
I know mechs are known for being expensive, but yikes. This looks cool and it seems like a novel idea, but it’s hard to rationalize that purchase when there’s Kenesis or Moonlanders selling at ~$400.
Website is cancer. Here’s the list:
So it’s fair use when the AI reads something it didn’t pay for, but for humans it’s “piracy”.
Funny what money does.
