Let me name a few for you: Jersey Devil, Wendigo, Mothman, UFO aliens, Flatwoods Monster, Skinwalker. Almost every state in the US has a cryptid. We got the Native American folklore to derive from. Not even including Mexico’s vast folklore and cryptids.

I agree with you that talking is a skill that can be developed. I think it’s okay to encounter awkward situations because it’s gonna happen and it happens to everyone. Ideally, you learn how to handle or react to those situations eventually, imo. It should also be okay to be quiet too given the appropriate time.
