Well then the obvious conclusion is that respecting women makes you better at video games.

PS4 emulation has come a long way. I haven’t played fully through my copy, but I was going through it at 60fps through the first few areas with little to no issue. You may want to wait until all the kinks are out, but it’s pretty good as it is.
Too big to fail?
It’s okay, I don’t think he can swim.
I suddenly feel very small, but also the load off my shoulders lifted.
Give it a week, fingers crossed.
Probably? I have memories from over a decade back so
I seriously wonder how much brain damage I avoided by squeaking in my teenage years before the invention of smart phones.
My go to is “Ah yeah”, which could mean I’ve not considered it, but also dodges me venting the stress I’m feeling. It’s a win-win.
Hey mate good to see you, enjoy your fuckin stay.
Love it when the fucking around leads to finding out
They definitely can add anticheat to cooperative games, though again it feels a bit much.
I would say not to worry too much? The potential for abuse exists, but is not actually used. The companies that make the anti cheat software these days have way too much on the line to risk that kind of behaviour. It’s one of those things that it’s in a bit of a weird state, and some people like to keep an eye on it, but for the vast majority of cases is a minor inconvenience.
I’m being a bit vague here because where it is now is the result of decades of arms race between the cheaters and the developers, thus extremely complicated.
It’s a program that sits on your machine, and watches both the game in question, as well as other programs, to make sure there’s no funny business regarding the game.
It’s somewhat effective, though it comes at a cost. There is a noticeable performance cost on modern anticheat programs, meaning you’re losing performance for sometimes no tangible benefit.
Kernal level anti cheat programs are especially invasive, as they have deeper access to your operating system than would normally be allowed by any other program. This can be fine when used correctly, but if abused could be a massive privacy concern, or even a danger to your system. If you remember a little while back where every business windows computer went down for a day due to the crowdstrike antivirus, that’s a potential result of kernal level software going bad.
So somewhat necessary evil, and they do kind of work. I personally don’t love solutions that eat performance like this, and privacy is a concern of mine, but also I kinda get it.
I’m chiming in though I completely crashed and burned during my uni. I don’t do well with abstract consequences, the further they are from actually affecting me the less I can function. Once my mum kicked me out of the house I went from 0-100 real fast. Unfortunately seeing as I was made redundant a year ago but am comfortable financially, I have no incentive to do much lately. It’s a work in progress.

It’s pretty close to Reddit, but it’s like a whole bunch of smaller Reddits that share posts between each other. The individual Reddits (instances) are generally grouped by hobby, political affiliation, or geographical location, but not always.
You can tell what instance something or someone is from by looking at their name or title. E.g. I’m from lemmy.zip, you can see it after my user name.
The reason that it can’t be bought by a billionaire is that even if one instance is bought out, compromised etc, it can just be removed from the group at large, and it continues like nothing happened. I’m simplifying a bit but I hope you get the general idea.
Accelerationism mostly
I feel you. They aren’t necessarily wrong to concentrate on the other stuff, but the world did feel a bit happier when things had a bit of life to them, at least to me.
For real, installing Linux nowadays is pretty painless for the most part, windows has this 27 stage process for opting out of a online account.
Like both have issues, you’re just used to the windows issues, but those are progressively getting more intrusive.
