Staff at the few remaining GAME stores have told Eurogamer that from February 16th 2024 the retailer will no longer accept trade-ins for pre-owned games and will sell through their remaining stock of used games.

This will leave second hand retailer CeX as one of the few remaining places to buy and sell used games in the UK.

GAME have been on the verge of collapse multiple times in recent years and have closed almost all of their stores opting instead to share space in larger Sports Direct and House of Frasier stores.

In the early 00’s GAME had hundreds of stores, sometime multiple store in the same town.

At one point there were 3 GAME stores within a 5 minute walk of each other in Maidstone, Kent before all three were closed down.

GAME has always been on the more expensive side for games so it’s not really a surprise to see that the writing may finally be on the wall for the retailer.

Will you miss buying and/or selling used games in GAME or do you prefer eBay or CeX?
