Maybe I’m not the only one? Maybe…
What is ricing? What does it mean to rice a computer?
Ricing is a process in which one customizes a computer operating system to improve the look or operation of the system. It involves the configuration of applications and the development and refining of workflows.
Through ricing, one can create a fully customized system that fits their specific needs or desired appearance.
I understood it as it is a car term and was the first thought to come to mind.
Looking at my RGB like undercar neon lights.
It’s a racist car term
Yup. In the car world “ricers” are specifically upgrading cars with purely cosmetic add-ons. They are stereotyped as using Asian cars and/or being Asian. The term should be strangled in the crib.
When the term leaves the original use, and those using it are referring to something distinctly different, isn’t this just natural evolution of language? English uses tonnes of words from French which are quite disconnected from the original use of the word
maybe it’s just “racing cars” but they were from New zealand?
That would be ‘royce in cahs’
Stems from RICE - racing inspired cosmetic enhancements. Fancy way of saying “go faster stripes”.
It stems from making fun of Asians
You got a source for that? I don’t doubt it, but when I searched for the meaning, that’s what I found.
It’s a term to describe how Japanese cars are really just advanced rice cookers. A suped up Honda Civic is frequently called a “Rice burner”. They’re not wrong.
Thanks. I assumed OP modded his PC to also be a rice cooker.
linux desktop 5/7
10/10 with rice
Isn’t 5/7 a perfect score tho?
10/14 twice as perfect
Ricing is fun, there is no point in stopping.
can we please find a new term, this one’s got some pretty racist history
Sir this is the internet. Racism against Asians isn’t really racist.
Managing repositories in GitHub is some kind of arcane magic to me.
Git is an extremely complex tool, but you can manage repo with like 5 simple commands.
Do they have a new season of this show now?
Yes(ish), the first 4(?) episodes are available, with I think the remaining coming out in a month or so.
Noice. I’ll wait another month then. Cheers.
