That was totally mid.
Sophia understandably clueless about her powers, but the Knights don’t seem to have a clue about how to deal with animal gods blessings.
Considering that’s why they chose her to show up to the trials, and know she’s a Gorilla God person, that was really disingenuous on the writers’ part.
One of those shows where we’ll have to find out if there’s more than one joke, but I’m disliking this already…
This was way cuter than I was expecting. Sophia is likeable and seems like a strong lead (I mean personality wise, but also physically I guess, lol). The boys are all very handsome and that’s a plus, but they also seem like good dudes without being just reverse harem archetypes (though they could turn out that way later, since we don’t know them too well yet), and it’s been fun trying to guess people’s animal blessings since they don’t say them outright. The plot has sort of yet to unfold at all, so it remains to be seen if that’s any good, but I really like this so far. I give the premiere a 4/5.

I also really like the choice to use the gorilla god as a (silent) character that just pops in for cameos; it’s hilarious to me
Give’s me Aho-Girl vibes somehow. If Sophia were voiced by Yuki Aoi ir would have been perfect.
Since some blessings are rare, the others must be common enough that a lot of people have the same ones? I wonder if we’ll see that at all, since “everyone has a magic power” shows tend to avoid that.
The character designs remind me a lot of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, but I don’t see any shared staff between the two shows. Diomedéa is listed as a producer (but not the studio) for this show, so maybe there’s still some kind of link? Small observation that didn’t really bother me–sometimes the animation looked a bit rough, but sometimes it was very nice (e.g. when Sophia bows down and all her hair poofs up for a second).
There were a couple moments where I wasn’t sure if they made a mistake or did it on purpose:
- that apple didn’t just get crushed, there was nothing left of it
- her face was completely fine before Louis wiped it
- Isaac put his head down to listen for the starter… flag?
