Summary

Canadian Ambassador Kirsten Hillman expressed disappointment over Donald Trump’s newly imposed 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico, calling them disruptive to a strong trade relationship.

The tariffs, set to take effect Tuesday, are aimed at pressuring cooperation on immigration and drug control. Canada plans retaliatory tariffs on $107 billion in U.S. goods.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not spoken with Trump since his inauguration. Hillman stressed Canada’s desire for continued partnership but warned of strong public demand for a firm response.

    You’re not entirely wrong.

But 3rd party voting is part of the contributor to the current predicament. It would’ve been better to vote for the lesser evil and buy some time to regroup and mobilize.

Would it have happened? I don’t know. But it probably would’ve been better than this.

Thing is, when we actually empower Democrats they don’t really do much of anything anyway. So the ‘lesser’ argument is getting tired. Thanks DNC.

Dont pretend the rest of the world are saints. I live in Europe, we also have the rise of extreme right (fascism)… Less judging other people and more protesting. We need eachother, now is not the time for infighting.

Infighting? The states has declared trade wars against all its allies. Being against the states for my country is no longer “infighting.” It is retaliation.

Y’all had four fucking years to regroup and mobilize after you already had a Trump presidency as a warning. What exactly did you do with those four years except get mad at anybody who pointed out the democrats were also supporting genocide?

I mean let’s be honest: That was not going to happen. Nobody regrouped or mobilized under Biden, even when he doubled down on genocide or when the DNC nominated him and then nominated Harris without a primary and tanked her campaign. Nothing I’ve seen in the final year of Biden’s term convinced me that anyone was going to do anything about the DNC except complain.

Both the DNC and RNC have historically been hunky-dory with the status quo, mostly because change is hard and requires a leadership geared towards doing what’s right vs what sustains their power and profis.

American politics is completely fucked up and I’m not sure there’s anything that can be done except a complete overhaul.
