Few people seem to get excited over these little brown birds like I do. This handsome boy will occasionally make an appearance on the roof of a local restaurant when we come visit. Today was one such day! I was very excited to see him! I always snap a photo if he shows.

There are about a hundred of these that sometimes hang out in the shrubbery in front of my place. They make a delightful racket. Also adorable when they visit the local restaurant patios hoping for dropped crumbs 🤎

I have some living under the awning of our apartment block right next to my balcony. I love seeing them coming and going all day and the quiet chirping of the babies in the nest.

Yep, I’m officially a lost cause… I recognised the bird by its genus and species before I saw the picture…

Traditionally, I haven’t been that type of birder…

But I’ve been tagging and organising all of my photos, and I’m tagging them by their genus and species, so I’ve become that type of birder :)

I’d never heard the scientific name before, and I thought it sounded a little Pythonesque lol. I know them more so by (house) sparrow, and we have them in Canada too. Looking at their Wiki page, it looks like they’re pretty much everywhere. I wonder if they’re the most widely-distributed amongst the global human population bird. I find them very cute, especially when they dust-bath

They’ve handled the human problem by learning to adapt with us! Fascinating birds.
