The referendum was to see if Venezuelans still consider that Esequibo should be a part of Venezuela. It wasn’t a referendum for an invasion.
True, but maybe this is pretext for invasion
This will be used in the ICJ as proof that Venezuelans still consider that land theirs even if it was colonized quite a few decades ago, from then on we will need to see what’s going to happen.
